// What it is

WHAT IS AN E-FOIL?

An e-foil (short for "electric hydrofoil") is a modern board with an electric motor and an underwater wing (the foil) that lifts the entire board above the surface once it reaches a certain speed. You ride one meter above the water, with no wave contact and almost no drag.

Riders control it with a wireless hand-held trigger that regulates motor power. The battery is built into the board and the motor sits at the bottom of the hydrofoil mast — submerged, directly under the board.

Unlike traditional surfing, sail foiling or wakeboarding, an e-foil needs no waves, no wind, and no tow boat. All you need is a charged battery and calm water — a lake, the sea, or a wide river.

HOW AN E-FOIL WORKS

Four components that together create the sensation of flight:

The board

Carbon or EPS construction with a track system for quick foil mounting. 35–110 L volume depending on rider weight.

The hydrofoil

An underwater wing. Once the board moves fast enough, the wing generates lift and raises the entire setup into the air.

Motor + propeller

A brushless electric motor (typically 4–10 kW) with a shrouded propeller, mounted at the top of the foil just under the board.

Battery + trigger

A Li-ion battery in the board powers the motor. A wireless trigger in your hand controls speed — seven or more power steps.

The electric motor is whisper-quiet — riders only hear the water. Perfect for lakes, protected areas and early-morning sessions.

No waves needed

No waves, wind or tow boat required. Calm water is enough — fly whenever and wherever you want.

100 % electric. No fuel, no oil, no exhaust. Eco-friendly and permitted on protected lakes.

Quick to learn

Most beginners are flying within 30–60 minutes. The trigger has a programmed power curve that makes the first lift-off easy.

Up to 2-hour range

A full battery lasts 30–90 minutes of intense riding, or up to 2 hours of relaxed cruising.

All ages

Suitable from age 14 (with parental consent) onwards — no upper limit. We've taught riders over 60 without issue.

YOUR FIRST DAY ON AN E-FOIL

A typical first hour with our instructor at Green Lake, Kidričevo:

0–10 min
01 · Briefing on shore
Equipment walkthrough, safety, controls. How the foil works and what to expect on lift-off.
10–20 min
02 · On the knees
We start on the belly, then on the knees. Get a feel for the trigger and balance before any lift-off.
20–40 min
03 · Standing
Stand up on the board. Ride straight on the surface, no foil action yet.
40–60 min
04 · First lift-off ⚡
Right weight + enough speed = the foil lifts you. The unforgettable first flight above water.

✦ Nearly 90 % of our guests are flying within the first hour. A few need another 30 minutes — that's completely normal.
